The International 2012 : East Qualifier Update

The west and east qualifiers for The International 2012's last two wild card slots have been going on in full force, with many expected and unexpected results going on in both sides of the globe. They are both currently in the final round in both qualifiers that will take place on the 10th of June, 2012. The finalists on the east qualifiers are China's TongFu and their fellow countrymen and rivals, Team WE.  Both teams were heavy favorites to make it through the finals but it did not come easily as some may have thought. Let's take a look back at how the two teams made it to the finals and also a brief review the east qualifiers thus far.

Dota2 - The International 2012 - East Winner Brackets

In the first round, TongFu had some trouble against the Malaysian Team Ice. It came to a great surprise to many, especially after seeing the second game last an hour to decide the victor. They both played in a similar fashion with Team Ice even drawing first blood and followed with aggressive attacks with Leshrac, but TongFu managed to play well on the counter attack by getting Ice's tier one towers, following with a full out team fight that went TongFu's way, ensuring their victory. In the second game, Ice put up a good fight but in the end TongFu managed to capitalize on Team Ice's naked throne for the win.

MiTH.Trust (Trust) had no problem taking out Mineski from the Philippines. After a last minute roster change for Mineski, they did not have it together as a team to put up much of a fight against Trust, falling 2-0. Team AEON beat MSIevoGT two games to one, the game lasted a bit longer than some would have thought but the results were as expected. The biggest surprise in the opening round was most likely Duskbin beating WE 2-0. The rising underdogs played an almost picture perfect game as they countered Anti Mage with Lion for both games, sending the heavy favorites, WE, to the losers brackets.

Dota2 - The International 2012 - East Losers Brackets

In the semi finals of the winners brackets, TongFu managed to beat Trust after a bit of a slow start along with Trust's overwhelming rushes early in the game, to take the first one. TongFu found their game and managed to win the next two to advance to the final round of the winners bracket. AEON took out Duskbin in two straight games as things did not go well for Duskbin. The round started off evenly but the results seemed pretty clear after a few minutes in both games.

Dota2 - The International 2012 - East Final

The final game in the winners brackets was TongFu vs AEON. It was expected to be a bigger showdown between the two teams but TongFu seemed to have had AEON's number as they easily took control of the towers and dominated the first game and had a similar repeat in the second game and taking out AEON in less than an hour to secure themselves a spot in the final round against WE, whom managed to take out Duskbin in a hard fought battle to avenge themselves for the first round upset. They also took out MSIevoGT, Trust and AEON to make it to the finals, making for an all Chinese grand finals to see who will get the east wildcard slot for The International 2012.
