League of Legends Season Two Challenger Circuit

It’s getting close to that time of year again League players: the closing of a ranked season, a big-money tournament, and a fresh new season for us to get ranked in.

Season 2 is fast approaching the closing days, with the Regional Finals taking place at Gamescom and PAX Prime respectively. Each of the top 8 teams from each regional area will compete in a Challenger Circuit of the area for a chunk of the $150,000 in prizing. The top 3 finishing teams of each of these circuits also secures a spot at the Season Two World Champs later in the year.

The tournament will play out similar to last year, with teams being seeded according to their ranking in the circuit followed by a series of single-elimination games. The matching, progression, and placement is laid out below.

Although the regional circuit tournaments have a decent sized prize pool (for a gaming tournament? let’s be realistic here) of $150,000, the three top teams of each circuit will have a shot at a pretty good chunk of money. The 12 teams that make the cut to compete in worlds are competing for a staggering 2 million in prize money and the title of Season Two World Champion.

The European finals will be on showcase at Gamescom, August 16th-19th and the North American circuit will close up August 31st through September 2nd at PAX Prime.
