EU-NE tournament starting hour (7 posts replies)

Re: EU-NE tournament starting hourAs I have said before, it is expected for events to go late into the night for many organizations, and events do require time and dedication, as our admins are there for the entire duration themselves.
That being said, we are currently trying to work something out with all the regions.
The biggest issue for the game times being so late is that the location in which JeeSports is hosted is not effected by DST (Daylight Savings Time), and a lot of other places in the world are. Once DST ends, the games will be starting an hour earlier.
Also, games start Friday. How would they waste a Sunday? I'm aware that 4am is very late, but with six to eight hours of sleep, you should be fully rested and ready to wake up by about noon the next day. Which is hardly a wasted day.

Re: EU-NE tournament starting hourCouldn't you mimic the DST artificially? And just make the times earlier by 1 hour? -
Re: EU-NE tournament starting hourThat would be a Kira issue.Quote WNxJesus Dec 18, 2009 @ 23:12 GMTCouldn't you mimic the DST artificially? And just make the times earlier by 1 hour?

Re: EU-NE tournament starting hourJust went through and i have to agree. But how is that tournaments start at 21? I have GMT+1 in my profile and its like :
Check in starts Aug 17, 2012 @ 18:00 Team size 5v5
Tournament date Aug 17, 2012 @ 19:00
Also even when tournament starts at 19:00 it is late. But still better than 20:00 or 21:00. Especially when you run finals best of 3.
Also can you tell me the starting hour for GMT +0? Just that thread saying it starts at 21:00 (gmt+2) messed my mind. I live in Poland where time is (GMT+1) and additional +1 from summer time. -
Re: EU-NE tournament starting hourTake your current time and subtract two hours from it.Quote DarQScreaM Dec 18, 2009 @ 23:12 GMTJust went through and i have to agree. But how is that tournaments start at 21? I have GMT+1 in my profile and its like :

GMT isn't DST (Daylight Savings Time), so anyone who is in DST is currently ahead of normal GMT time by 1 hour. Then you factor in your +/- hours.
Living on the US East Coast, I'm GMT +5, then another +1 for DST. 19:00 GMT during the summer is really 8PM here for us as well.
Events do start at 7pm normally for each respective region when DST is not in effect, which will be happening November 4.
In order to minimize confusion during this time you can simply check the timer in the top right of the information page of each event where it says "Tournament stats in: X Days Y Hours Z Days."

Re: EU-NE tournament starting hourHi, we can change all cup start time to be 1h beforeQuote WNxJesus Dec 18, 2009 @ 23:12 GMTCouldn't you mimic the DST artificially? And just make the times earlier by 1 hour?
we would need to edit each cup individually. time consuming but doable.
Is that what the consensus want then?

It's an already late hour for EU-NE players to start at 21:00 ( +2GMT ). We had to play last week final at 2 AM, and since final was best of 3, it could have ended around 4 AM or even later, meaning an almost wasted Sunday .
I think it will be great for all of us to start ~ 2 hours earlier, so we can have a good rest for Sunday.
